Vacations at WATA Factory: the art of stopping

At WATA Factory, we believe in doing a great job, but we also believe in something too many companies forget: no one can give their best without pausing from time to time. That’s why we offer 30 working days of vacation per year, in addition to all official German public holidays.

It’s not a whim or just a number in a contract; it’s part of our philosophy.

Our connection with Germany has taught us to look at free time differently: as a right that drives creativity, motivation, and team health. Here, vacations are not seen as an absence—they’re celebrated as the space we need to come back better.

The value of stopping at the moments that matter

At WATA Factory we are clear about two sacred times: summer and Christmas.

During summer, everyone takes at least two consecutive weeks off. We don’t believe in half measures: disconnecting means shutting down the computer, turning off notifications, and immersing yourself in experiences that have nothing to do with work.

The same goes for Christmas. We don’t want to see anyone checking commits when they should be checking that the wrapping paper doesn’t wrinkle before its time. The holidays aren’t just red days on the calendar—they’re the chance to reconnect with what gives meaning to everything else. And that’s why at WATA Factory they are untouchable.

This collective respect for the moments that really matter is what allows us to come back with a clear mind, high motivation, and an energy that spreads through every project.

Science confirms what we feel

What we do is not just intuition—it’s backed by science.

Studies by the Harvard Business Review show that teams who take more vacation achieve up to 30% higher productivity upon their return. The American Psychological Association highlights that long breaks significantly reduce the risk of burnout, improve memory, and boost creativity.

And it’s not just what studies say—we see it every year in our own team. Whoever comes back from vacation doesn’t just return rested; they return with new ideas, different perspectives, and a motivation that no crash course could generate.

Because when you give your mind space to wander, connections arise that daily routines make impossible.

Living well to work better

At WATA Factory, we stand for something simple yet powerful: we want your life outside of work to be as rich as what you build inside it.

We want you to travel, to lose yourself in a book, to swim in the sea, to cook something new, to enjoy without watching the clock. Because all of that comes back with you—turned into energy, inspiration, and strength to face any challenge.

We don’t look for heroes who brag about never resting. We look for people who know how to pause, take care of themselves, and come back with a smile and a head full of fresh ideas.

Because innovation doesn’t come from exhaustion—it comes from a team that is alive, happy, and knows when to work and when to disconnect.

At WATA Factory we’re clear: stopping is not wasting time, it’s gaining it. And that’s why our vacations are not just another benefit—they are the foundation of a culture that values people, creativity, and a future where work and life don’t compete, but empower each other.
