On 15 September 2026, WATA Factory will take part in the latest edition of the ITEC Clubabend in Hamburg, an event organised by the IT-Executive Club that brings together CIOs and other technology professionals to share experiences and discuss the changes currently shaping the business landscape.
Germán Tiscar Lorenzo, CEO of WATA Factory, will be one of the speakers at this event, presenting ‘Workation: Kontrollverlust oder Unternehmenschance?’ (‘Workation: loss of control or an opportunity for businesses?’), a talk that aims to examine workation from a business perspective and move beyond the idea that it simply involves going on holiday with your laptop.
What does workation really mean for a business?
Technology has made it possible to work from almost anywhere, but a change of location does not mean that the needs of a project or a team change. There is still a need for good organisation, smooth communication, clear objectives and an environment where autonomy and responsibility can coexist.
This is precisely where the potential of the workation lies for businesses. As well as offering employees greater freedom to decide where to work during certain periods, it can open up new possibilities for attracting and retaining talent, promoting work-life balance and moving towards work cultures based more on trust and results than on physical presence. To make the most of these opportunities, the question is not so much whether we can technically work from another location, but how to create the conditions to do so effectively.
This will be Germán’s focus in Hamburg: exploring the workation as an evolution of flexible working that deserves to be analysed from a business perspective, understanding what it needs to work and what opportunities it can open up for organisations and their teams.
A perspective shaped by our connection between Spain and Germany

AI and strategy round off the ITEC Clubabend programme
The event will also address another of the major changes currently transforming organisations. Prof. Dr Christian Hürter, CIO of DEUTZ, will speak about the company’s strategic reorientation and the role that artificial intelligence is playing in this process, with a particular focus on DEUTZ.AI.
The programme will be rounded off with the usual CIO Interviews, hosted on this occasion by Karsten Kirsch, in which participants share both their professional experience and a more personal side to their careers.
The ITEC Clubabend will thus bring together different perspectives on how businesses are evolving, from the impact of artificial intelligence on strategy to new working models and flexibility.
